My son is totally obsessed with the movie. A night at the museum.
You’ve seen?
Nope? I’ve seen it too many times to count at this point, but in my last vision, something made my synapses fire.
In the film, everything in the natural history museum comes to life at night, including the Roman mini-soldiers.
As Octavio, the general novel, leads his army to break down the wall of the showcase, he declares:
“We expand or we die!!!”
That is a great statement.
When he yells “We expand or we die”, Octavian is voicing the ancient Roman philosophy of expansion and saying whatever he wants about ancient Roman politics, but Octavian is actually declaring THE LAW of the universe.
Expansion or Contraction
Expansion and Contraction are the movements of our pulsating universe. Our universe is in constant pulsation. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is still. ANY!!! Not even a wall, not even a rock.
Stillness does not exist, ever, anywhere!
In life, there are only two options:
Expansion PRAYED Contraction
That is all! No other option.
Are you confused at all? What the hell am I talking about?
Here are some examples of this Expansion and Contraction business:
*The creation of the universe: The Big Band–Explosion–Expansion (contraction will come eventually…maybe)
*Pulsating Stars: Expansion/Contraction
*Seasons: Summer=Expansion/ Winter=Contraction
*The Cycle of Life: Birth=Expansion/Death=Contraction
Even in everyday life, we also find Expansion and Contraction.
*Wake up=Expansion/Go to bed=Contraction
*Leave=Expansion/Stay home=Contraction
*Socializing with friends=Expansion/Being alone=Contraction
And to take it even further, there can be cycles of Expansion and Contraction within cycles of Expansion and Contraction.
You can also have an expansive experience within the contraction, like a hallucinatory expansive experience within a moment of solitude.
I’m sure you can think of many other examples.
Expansion and Contraction is everywhere and in everything. We can’t escape that.
SO…
What does all this mean for our own individual and personal lives?
(*Large inhalation… *)
… That us are never neither yet.
We are in a state of Expansion or in a state of Contraction.
There are only two options: Expansion or Contraction
If we are in a state of Expansion, we…
* work tirelessly to realize our dreams.
* Realize those dreams and continue to create more dreams.
* keep learning and educating ourselves.
*continue to improve our skills.
*grow and expand our circle of friends.
* try things we’ve never done before.
*Make more and more money.
The mistake that many of us make is that many times we think that we can stay the same, that we reach a certain level of education, of ability, that we achieve certain goals, etc… and that’s it! We think that if we are not in a state of expansion, we can continue in life exactly as we are until we die.
WRONG!
There are only two options: Expansion or Contraction.
“We expand or we die!!!”
If you are not expanding, then you are contracting.
Ask yourself this question:
***At this point in my life, am I expanding or contracting?
Respond and be brutally honest. be real with yourself.
If the answer is “contraction,” know that you have the ability to change anything and find yourself expanding again.
As long as you still have breath in your lungs, you will naturally be drawn into expansion. It is THE LAW of the universe. If you are in a state of contraction, it is only because you are resisting your own expansion.
Don’t worry about shrinkage. It will come when your heart stops beating.
You have the option!!!
