2010 Camaro Performance Sheets

The performance chip or tuner is a way to reprogram the internal computer inside a vehicle. Most vehicles have the ability to use one of these chips or tuners and the 2010 Camaros are no exception. One may wonder, is there a huge selection to choose from or is it one of those things where one option is all that is available? The answer to that question is yes, there are many different options, and with all the different options come different benefits that meet the needs of each individual. Today we will only cover three of many options, but most of them will be very similar in their performance and will increase your efficiency.

The first one we’ll cover is the Diablo Sport Predator. The Diablo Sport name was founded in 2000 and has continued to be an industry leader in high performance tuners and chips ever since. Diablo Sport has claimed a performance increase of over 20 horsepower and over 20 ft/lbs of torque on the new 2010 Camaro L99 with automatic transmission and they even do a little better on the LS3 engine with manual transmission. They will boost the LS3 by about 25 on both. With fuel efficiency gains of 1-3 mpg as long as you’re not racing around town. Installing Diablo Sport will only take about 10 minutes with an on-screen display that practically walks you through the setup. They do not void any warranties that may be available from Chevrolet, and come with a 2-year manufacturer’s own warranty.

If you want or need to restore the original programming, it is as easy as installing the reprogrammed one. Just follow the exact same steps and choose the stock setting. There’s also another neat little devilsport predator feature on 2010 Camaros with L99 automatic. When you put the car in cruise control, it shuts off four of the cylinders for better gas mileage. The only problem with that is that the car doesn’t sound the same anymore. With the devil, you can disable that feature, making it run on all 8 cylinders all the time.

The second tuner on the agenda is Hypertech Max Energy for the 2010 Camaro. The Max Energy Power programmer extracts as much power as possible. With this nifty little tuner you have the power to increase horsepower and torque, improve fuel economy, increase top speed limiter, increase “RPM” rev limiter, recalibrate speedometer, read and display and clear the DTCs.

They can be updated over the Internet with the included USB and are legal in all 50 states. In most cases, 12 horsepower and 20 foot-pounds of torque are common, giving the Camaro better response time in traffic. Like the Diablo Sport, you can expect fuel efficiency of 1-3 mpg. Also, this product does not void the factory warranty with its own 1-year warranty. They include two performance tunes for 91-octane or 93-octane fuel. Although Hypertech releases a good product, most people go the devil’s way because the features are almost identical, but the devil’s power gains are higher.

The third and final one for today is the Jet Performance 2010 Camaro Performance Chip. Jet Performance has been doing what it does for over 40 years. They are committed to giving the consumer what he really wants…more power. Jet Performance programming is designed to burn fuel with maximum efficiency, resulting in better performance and mileage.

Jet Performance brags about its gains for the 15+ horsepower Camaro. Fuel and timing curves are modified for optimal performance and mileage using less expensive, lower octane fuels. Like the other two, it has the potential for up to 3 extra miles per gallon, will require some discipline from the driver, keep your foot off the ground. Installing it is easy, in less than 10 minutes to install the chip and go. They also offer their one year warranty against defects. They have two different versions of the chip available. There is a stage one chip, which is designed for 2010 Camaro stock. They also have a stage two, which is designed for modified 2010 camaros, that have other minor bolts like a cold air intake, headers, exhaust, or others. The great thing about tuners is that they work on stock or modified engines, but if you know what you need, jet chips are a great way to go too.

Tuning is the easiest of the aftermarket upgrades for 2010 Camaros, and the good thing is that they work in conjunction with any other parts you add for even greater gains. So if you have a tuner that puts out 20hp and an air intake that puts out 20hp, you’ll gain over 40 using both items, because they work together. This makes the yield market even more fun once you get deeper.
