Most of the time, the bedroom is the last room to be redecorated. I’m not sure why. It may be the room that has the least visibility for our guests, and we feel no pressure to keep it up to date. However, he spends a considerable amount of time in the bedroom and owes it to himself to have a place where he can retreat that makes him feel relaxed and content.

Once you’re ready to loosen the purse strings and spend some well-earned money on decor, all you’ll need is inspiration. Here are some timely ideas that are sure to stimulate your creative decorating juices.

Start with a neutral canvas in a soothing, soothing color, such as cream, wheat, linen, or tan, and a similar rug shade. Add color using fabrics and accessories. Don’t be afraid to use stripes or flowers for curtains and add colorful accent pillows or side chairs.

Hang the curtains near the ceiling and let them hang down to the floor. Curtains hung too close to the window frame make the ceiling appear lower and the entire room look darker. A good rule of thumb for mounting curtain rods is to place them 6 inches to 1 foot above the window trim.

When you start decorating, start with an empty room, gradually adding furniture and accessories. Remember that less is more. A messy bedroom won’t calm your nerves when you retire for the night.
