People sometimes forget how much work our skin, the body’s largest organ, has to do. Not only does it defend itself against harmful bacteria and viruses, but it also regulates body temperature and keeps us cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold.

It is of the utmost importance that we keep our skin clean so that it can perform its many functions. While facials are a great way to do this, there’s no denying that they can be expensive. This is where you can get the ingredients that are in the house. Ingredients that can be used to create your own homemade / homemade face mask.

DIY face masks can save you tons of money and can be done in a matter of minutes. All you need to do is make sure you have the correct ingredients. So the first step in creating your own homemade face mask is rummaging through your kitchen cabinets. Highlight all those essentials that will give you flawless, glowing skin. What are those ingredients you say? Long before you start applying green chili peppers to your face, why not take a look at my weekly posts to get an idea of what can be improved with simple household products.

A list of DIY face masks is simply incomplete without the cucumber face mask. This mask is one of the most basic yet powerful and effective face masks of all time.

Among the many benefits of cucumber, it works to hydrate, soften, and relax the skin. It helps prevent water retention and reduces puffiness, giving the skin a break from irritation. It is even effective in treating sunburn! I’m sure the phrase ‘As cool as a cucumber’ makes more sense to you now.

So let’s get started by creating a pretty basic cucumber mask that only requires one ingredient: CUCUMBER.

Ingredients

A cucumber

blender

bowl

Preparation

The key to creating a good cucumber mask is to start by putting it in the fridge. A few hours in the fridge allow the cucumber to cool down.

Then the appearance of the application depends entirely on the preferences. You can cut the cucumber into slices and put them on your face or you can grate the cucumber and apply it on dry skin.

Another option is to take the cucumber and place it in a blender creating a kind of paste. This option is trickier as the cucumber will slide over your face, but whatever falls off your face can be used to create a refreshing cucumber drink.

Make sure to avoid the eye area when applying the cucumber mask. I usually put on the homemade face mask for about 20 to 30 minutes, which gives me a good excuse to lie down as well.

Once you are done, wash off the mask with cold water and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

Last but not least, apply a moisturizer or a few drops of olive oil to help retain moisture.

Now that wasn’t that difficult, right? By creating your own mask, you have not only saved money, but you have also managed to consume vegetables that you were not getting used to. However, the best part is that with all this process you end up getting a little time for ‘ME’, which is essential.
