Energy Fuel Saver – Where did my carburetor go?

The carburetor is part of the engine that mixes air and fuel for internal combustion engines, which is a great fuel saver. The carburetor had jets and metering rods that allowed adjustments to tune the engine for the best fuel economy. They are still used today, but mostly in non-car engines. Such as motorcycles, airplanes, lawn mowers, tractors, weeders, jet skis, snow blowers, and older car and boat engines. Side draft carburetors replaced the down draft due to engine design and operation.

The carburetor was invented by Donat Banki and Janos Csonka in 1893 and was improved over the years and then finally replaced in the late 1970s with fuel injection. There were several types of carburetors, there was a single barrel, then 2 and 4 barrel carburetors. Some hotrods would be fed up to 3 twin-barrel carburettors and some with 2 four-barrel carburettors. There were different carburettors made for different uses, such as some were high draft, some entered below the carb and exited at the top, preventing the car from flooding and increasing fuel economy.

Carburetors were used in cars and trucks in the past, but have been replaced by fuel ejection systems. This, in my opinion, was a big mistake and a scam on the population. The carburetor was much more fuel efficient than current fuel injection systems. Almost anyone could repair or replace a carburetor, but today it takes a trained Tec. changing a fuel ejection system at great cost to the owner. Also, anyone could adjust the fuel mixture in a carb making the engine run fuel efficient.

There were many claims of getting 40-100 miles per gallon with some of these carbs, so it was not to the advantage of the big oil companies who in those days were encouraging people to use more fuel. If you’re my age, you’ll remember all those commercials about putting a tiger in your tank. Today is to put everything you earned this week into your tank. You realize they no longer have to spend all those ad dollars to sell you fuel. They are saving millions in advertising and more millions from the outrageous prices they are charging at the pumps.

Fuel consumption never improved after switching to carburetor fuel jets. My little truck still only gets 15 mpg and it’s a six cylinder. I had a 48 ford pickup with a flat head 8 engine that had the same good mileage. I sold that truck with over 100,000 miles on it and it still ran great.

The cost of a fuel ejection system is much more expensive than a carburetor and adds much more cost to the price of a car. Even if fuel injection saved fuel, the money it was supposed to save in fuel savings is lost in the cost of the vehicle. The end result is no monetary savings for the consumer at all. So let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and say that fuel injection saves fuel, but the cost of the system is still too high compared to carbureting. So how else can we save fuel?

There are products that are good fuel savers such as Ultimate-me2, which can be found at http://www.ecosavesfuel.com. This product allows you to save at least 13% or more on the total cost of gasoline and diesel fuel by adding a small amount to your fuel system. There are many other benefits of these types of fuel saving products. They clean your engine while giving you more horsepower, and because the fuel burns more efficiently, it reduces emissions into the air, giving us a cleaner environment.

I think if the auto companies kept the carburetor system in place we would see a lot more fuel savings with these new additives that are on the market today. You may ask what my choice is based on. Well let me just say that I am using Ultimate-me2 on my lawn mower and I am getting a 50% increase in usage on a gallon of fuel with the mower using a carburetor. The bottom line is that the carburetor was and still is a great energy and fuel saver.
