Fighting strategy for Hungerfen and Ghaz’an in Underbog in World of Warcraft

Underbog is the second instance in Coilfang Reservoir. It has four potholes, in all. Here is the strategy to beat the first and second boss.

Hungarfen

The first boss is Hungarfen. It has two abilities, and they involve swamp mushrooms. One spawns a mushroom that deals 360 damage every two seconds and can stack up to five times. You should get out of this when it spawns. The second is Foul Spores, which is an AOE poison cloud that deals 400-600 poison damage every second. It also heals Hungarfen for four times that amount.

The trick to this fight is to make the tank take it out of the mushrooms by up to 20%, then back away during the disgusting spores. Hungerfen won’t move, so he won’t be able to heal himself. If you stay in the spore cloud it will heal itself and make it very difficult to kill it.

So the tank can attack him when the spell ends.

Ghaz’an

The second boss in the slave pens is Ghaz’an. This fight is simple if done right. You have three skills that you need to pay attention to. His Acid Spit deals 2,000 natural damage to those in front of him. His Acid Breath stacks up to five times, dealing 2,000 natural damage and an additional 155 damage over five seconds. His Tail Swipe does a backward blow, dealing damage.

Make the tank aggro to the hydra and drag it down the ramp. The tank must hold it against the wall because Ghaz’an’s blow can throw the tank from the platform into the water below. This will result in a raid delete. The raid’s DPS should back up to the end of the hall, out of close combat range, or do it in melee while standing on its belly to avoid tail sliding.
