How to write short reports to market your business online

A short report can be an informative report that you give away for free. You can give away your short report in a variety of ways, including as a gift for signing up for an email list, a bonus for purchasing a product, and you can even give it to your affiliates to rebrand.

Writing short reports is easy to do. You can use old blog posts, combine old articles, create a reference list, a how-to guide, or even compile case studies. The important thing to do is sit down and consider your purpose for writing the report. Naturally, one purpose is to draw the reader into your product funnel, the next purpose is to compel them to want to buy a product within that funnel.

Whether you’re writing a case study, reference list, how-to guide, or using old blog posts to create your brief, be sure to insert some compelling graphics, like charts and graphs, to help clarify what you’re dealing with. to tell the reader. You also want to use appropriate bullets, fonts, highlights, and images within your report. Also, don’t forget to create relevant, keyword-rich, and engaging titles and headings for your reports.

Your short report should also have a call to action. The call to action should encourage the reader to do something, whether it’s forwarding the report to their friends or moving down the funnel to your product by buying something, or both.

Once you have your purpose, your headings, create a basic outline for your short report. Then simply enter articles, case studies, charts, and other information to complete your report. Don’t forget to add information, biographical information, and other information to your website that will tell the reader about you and why they should hear what you have to say in the brief. This information should appear after the table of contents.

Write a summary of the information you filled out and put it at the top of the report, after your biographical information. In front of the abstract insert a table of contents and in front of the table of contents insert a cover graphic of some kind. Conclude with another summary and your call to action.
So the order of your brief report will be:

1. Cover graphics
2. Index
3. Biographical information
4. Summary of information
5. Information: Your collection of articles, case studies, blog posts, etc.
6. Close with another summary
7. Your call to action

Now just put it all together and format your short report to make it look nice. You can do it with Word or with Open Office. The latest version of Word gives you the ability to save your content as a PDF, just like Open Office. If you don’t have these programs, get a PDF converter. You can find one by doing a Google search. Either way, format the report to be easy to read with plenty of white space. Design a nice cover and you’re ready to start giving away your free report to market your business.
