Path to Pelantas game review

Path to Pelantas is a unique game that reminds me of many sports management games. Although it is an RPG video game, you cannot go out and experience all the action for yourself as everything in this game is simulated.

This is because you are in charge of managing 11 heroes. They are like your team and it is up to you to make sure they stay fit and healthy. Unlike many RPG games, this game does not require you to play for hours on end. It is very possible that you can achieve a lot with this game just by playing a few minutes each day.

Managing your heroes can be very easy as they are quite capable of handling situations on their own. You can go to the map and highlight where you want your heroes to go to hunt and kill monsters. Since this is a management style video game, you don’t get a chance to kill monsters by yourself, but you can check the progress of your hunts. There are four areas that you can hunt in and they include the forest, mountains, plains, and swamp. It’s a good idea to check back often, as you might be surprised at what you find.

Although most players will continue to play with the same team of heroes, there is a timeline for this game and everyone will retire. Fortunately, this game knows this and you have the option to recruit new heroes at any time. You can even sell your current heroes if you feel they lack toughness. Again, this is a reference to sports management titles, as managers also swap teammates all the time. This is a unique feature unlike most RPGs; you are stuck with the same party members for the entire game.

Combat is perhaps the weakest aspect of Path to Pelantas. I’m the type of player who likes to control what I do when it comes to fights. Although you can choose to “watch” the battles, you can’t actually see any of the characters physically fight. All you can see are their profile pictures and their stats. After a battle has concluded, you are left with only a stat sheet showing how you fared. I know this is a management type of game, but it would have been wrong if some kind of visual aid was included.

The game itself is in real time. Events are usually predetermined on certain days, so battles usually happen on Saturdays and missions usually wrap up the following Monday. It’s worth playing the game almost daily to see what kind of events are going on and also to see the progress of your characters.

One of the most interesting aspects of Path to Pelantas is its non-linear structure. Although there are battles to fight and quests to complete, you don’t have to play them if you choose not to. You have the option to play the game the way you want. If you want to specialize in just hunting monsters, then you can. Although it is recommended to play all aspects of the game if you want to look for hours of gameplay.

Path to Pelantas is a very unorthodox game. I have never played a non-sports management game before. Once again, it may not be a game for everyone, but the fact that it is free means that anyone can sign up and try this game out. Whether you are a fan of RPGs or not, Path to Pelantas is not a very time consuming game and anyone should find something to like in this game.
