Seeking God: Look Around, Above, and Beyond

A pagan philosopher once asked a Christian, “Where is God?” The Christian replied, “First let me ask you: Where is it not?”

-Aaron Arrowsmith

Human creations don’t just happen!

So how can the wonders of life, nature and the universe be produced without intelligence and design?

“Because every house is built by someone, but God is the Builder of everything.”

Hebrews 3: 4 (NIV)

Creation art

Everything created by man comes to life through intelligence and design.

Creative individuals are innovative.

They have a lively imagination to create ideas and opportunities.

They set goals and develop plans for their future course of action.

And they continue to the desired end.

Steps needed to make a loaf of bread

Plow, sow, harvest, tie sheaves, beat grains, winnow, separate, grind into flour, sift, add milk, eggs, and yeast, knead, and then bake all the way to the kitchen table.

Look around you, above and beyond

You will find God everywhere!

Who can hide in secret places so that I don’t see them? Declares the Lord. “Didn’t I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.

-Jeremiah 23:24

* gravity is invisible

* the air is invisible

* we have day and night

* we have contrasting seasons

Everything in God’s infinite universe, with all its galaxies, planets, and stars, moves toward orderly laws that never change.

The Earth is at the right distance from the sun, it has the presence of an atmosphere and water that provides more than a million different species of plant and animal life.

All living things exist, grow and reproduce according to ordered laws.

Each human being is unique with an independent identity, personality and potential.

The brain controls all bodily functions and is the coordinating center for sensation, intellect, and nervous activity.

We have the five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.

The human mind provides the ability to think, reason, make decisions, acquire knowledge, and make plans for the future.

And we have a conscience that gives us a sense of what is right and what is wrong.

God is the Creator who made everything.

“For from him, through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.”

(Romans 11:36)

Who is God?

Civilizations throughout history believed and worshiped some kind of God.

Believing in God is the product of natural instinct and our superior intelligence.

Natural instinct and higher intelligence were placed in man by God so that he can look beyond the physical reach.

The Book of Deuteronomy (4:29) says that if we seek God with all our heart and soul, we will find Him.

The most important revelation of Judaism is in the belief and worship of a God who is:

Eternal: Eternal

Omnipotent: Unlimited power

Omniscient: Who knows everything

Infinite: Unlimited

Omnipresent: Present everywhere at all times

The power of God can:

* influence people through love and compassion

* guide the conscience towards what is right and what is wrong

* govern what is important in life through values

* provide positive options to live a healthy existence

God’s Kingdom

“One thing I seek – to live in the Presence of the Lord – every day of my life and to contemplate the Beauty of God.”
