Ways to detox in the spa

We are bombarded with toxins every day. They’re in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the things we touch, but most of us don’t give it a second thought. However, more and more people are beginning to understand the business of detoxification, that is, ridding our bodies of toxins that accumulate over time.

The good news is that there are many ways that we can detoxify our bodies, and most of them are available at a spa near you. Now you can be pampered and be doing something good for your bodily systems at the same time. Most of us have heard of the steam room or sauna where we go to sweat out all the bad stuff floating around inside of us. This is usually done after other treatments and opens up your pores, leaving you refreshed inside and out.

However, there are numerous more sophisticated forms of detoxification. Take lymphatic drainage massage as an example, which promises to stimulate circulation, drain trapped water and toxins from your body and is performed with gentle movements on the face, neck and body. Sounds relaxing, right? Then there is the seaweed bath (which can also be done with salt). Here you soak in a large tub filled with seaweed, salt, or a combination of both, allowing the minerals to enter your body while the water draws out toxins.

If a bath isn’t for you, you can take a salt scrub or seaweed wrap, and there are also mud baths and mud wraps that do the same thing, leaving your skin soft and your mind blissful.

While some people would jump at the chance to go to a spa, for others it is too sensitive and they would prefer to do something a little less invasive. Enter ionic detoxification, something offered by many chiropractic offices across the country. Here you simply put your feet in a bowl of warm salt water and let the matrix (a copper fitting) push and pull the ions through your body, carrying toxins with them. You will be surprised by the color of the water when you finish your treatment! All of that was swimming inside you, those accumulated toxins that we pick up in the course of each day.

Detoxifying your body is a great way to get rid of what you don’t need, and heck, you can pamper yourself while you’re at it!
