Why do people go camping?

Camping has become a substitute for overseas retreats and vacations, especially with the ongoing recession leaving citizens with smaller options and a tight budget. Instead of spending millions or thousands of dollars on airline tickets and hotels in other countries, many people flock to unspoiled places across the country and spend quality time with family and friends, free from the urban lifestyle.

Citizens around the world understand the benefits of roughing it up and being knowledgeable about the great outdoors. Well, some people have a hard time, but many families still bring a piece of the details of home by bringing in RVs and trailers. For families or groups of people who ditch the fancy gadgets and decide to have a rough time setting up tents, cooking meals over an open fire and experiencing the thrill of living outdoors; the satisfying and learning experience has long-term benefits for children, adolescents and adults.

Nowadays pitching a tent is much easier thanks to well thought out tent designs and materials. Thanks to synthetic materials, modern tents are also lighter, more portable and much more resistant. From sticks, hemp ropes, and heavy tarps made from animal skins or linen; Flexible poles, nylon ropes, and a very lightweight microfiber tarp make it easy for just about anyone to pitch a tent in less than five minutes.

Setting up your own tent is one thing, but time spent in natural surroundings gives people a special bond with Mother Nature. Having to get away from the busy city would not only make you forget the stress of urban life, but also the health benefits of breathing unpolluted air.

Taking a camping vacation will save you hundreds of pounds. Specific areas in the UK where people can camp cost around £1-£2 a night and you can even set up camp in places where you don’t have to pay anything. Every year around three million Britons go camping and most of them spend the night in tents rather than RVs and trailers.

Before you head out on that camping trip with your family or friends, you should always think about the basic things you need to bring to maximize your camping fun and enjoyment. If you go to the archaic type of camping that we often see on TV, roasting marshmallows, acorns or sausages are the common way to prepare your dinner, but bringing pots and pans and canned goods will provide enough sustenance for you and your family outdoors.

It is also essential to prevent parasites, such as mosquitoes, from literally sucking the blood out of you and your loved ones. Citronella candles, mosquito coils, and mosquito lotions will keep those irritating little vampires off your skin for the rest of the night.

Last but not least, good garbage disposal is the most important thing for campers to keep in mind. Keeping the surroundings of the campsite clean will ensure that the environmental integrity of the neighborhood is preserved which would continue the tradition of camping that everyone should experience.
