Recent research published in the british medical journal finds that the healthier you are, the wealthier you become. Scientists examined the link between health and wealth in rich countries and found that healthy people are more productive at work and earn more. They spend more days in the workforce because they don’t take as much time off sick. A population survey conducted on this topic, involving 2,068 women and 2,314 men with linked earnings data analysis, was used to calculate median income levels within these educational and occupational groups.

Compared with normal-weight women, obese women with higher education or in senior management positions have significantly lower income levels. Excess body weight was not associated with income disadvantages in men. It may seem obvious, but investing in weight loss can yield huge returns for people, and especially for women.
