Giving gifts can be a daunting challenge, especially at Christmas. Many times our young people want to participate in this wonderful festivity by giving their own gifts to family and friends. Unfortunately, the cost of generosity can be too much, especially if you’re on a tight budget. By being a bit creative and open-minded, you and your children can get through the season of giving with ease. You will find that many of these ideas can be done for very little and I find the local dollar store works great for accessories and gift wrapping.
Here are some gift ideas kids can give their loved ones that won’t break the bank.
1. Personalized Christmas ornaments, handmade or purchased and then personalized with beads, glitter, names, etc.
2. Gardening gloves with mini-packet of plant or flower seeds
3. Homemade Christmas Cookies in a Christmas Tin with the Recipe
4. Homemade Cookie Mix in a Jar with Baking Instructions
5. Note cards or stationery, pen. Add a stamp book if the gift is for a distant relative or pen pal.
6. Set of dish towels, kitchen towels or potholders or kitchen utensils tied with a ribbon
7. Magazines tied with a pretty bow
8. Mini Pack of Coffee (Makes a Whole Pot) in a Mug with Homemade Chocolate Dipped Spoons
9. $5.00 gift certificate to a local ice cream shop or coffee shop
10. Disposable camera or film rolls with mini-photo album
11. Decorate a cheap stocking and fill it with treats
12. A framed piece of art created and signed by them
13. Christmas tablecloths with napkins and napkin rings
14. Hearts of birdseed or pineapples of birdseed for lovers of nature or birds
15. Dog treats or cat toys for a pet lover or 4-legged friend
16. A set of napkin rings or placemats
17. A couple of small candles and a bag of potpourri
18. Coupon Books: Your child could offer to clean his room, do the dishes, take out the trash, dust furniture, water the plants, mow the lawn or fold the laundry or even hugs and kisses. These also make great stocking stuffers.
19. A set of 2-3 seasoning/oil packets tied with a ribbon
20. Movie Night Snack Pack: Buy a bowl, 2 bags of popcorn, 2 chocolate bars, 2 popsicles, add candy, some napkins
21. Color family photograph: enlarged in the office store, signed with best wishes and framed. Great distant relative.
22. Soup Kit – Get a basic kit of dry soup and bread mix, add 2 bowls of soup
23. Fruit Basket – Just buy an inexpensive basket, fruit and decorate
24. Chocolate Bars Tied With Decorative Ribbon
25. Recycled books or a journal for the book reader or writer
