Waiting for a diagnosis? 9 of the deadliest words when dealing with lupus and other inflammatory diseases

“I’m waiting for my diagnosis before I do anything.”

I am amazed at the number of times subscribers to my healing autoimmune disease newsletter tell me they are doing nothing to help themselves, until their doctor tag them! Is it lupus, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or a long list of other potential disease “labels,” all of which are inflammatory problems that have simple, common-sense, safe, no-cost solutions to help jump-start the healing process? This, while experiencing painful, even debilitating, autoimmune symptoms such as severe fatigue, muscle pain, extreme joint pain/arthritic symptoms, fever, migraines, skin rash, hair loss, kidney problems, etc.

The first line of defense should never include a “wait and see” approach.

The first line of defense must include an immediate and all-out attack on anything that creates inflammation! For example, a lupus (anti-inflammatory) diet has shown dramatic improvements for most, as have many supplements aimed at realigning the immune system’s faulty ‘attack’ message. These are 2 of the most powerful and simple steps a person suffering from an inflammatory disease can take.

Only you, not your doctor, should take full responsibility for your health!

Unfortunately, the diagnosis of lupus (and other related autoimmune problems) often takes months, more commonly years to diagnose, all while a simple, natural and effective healing protocol could have been initiated. Add to this the possibility of avoiding unnecessary hospital visits, future medications, reducing the need for current ones, and avoiding the serious, often devastating side effects of prescription medications and worsening of symptoms.

Start a healing regimen with common-sense natural solutions for wellness including (but not limited to):

Body: The proper foods/nutrients that support the healing process with the do’s and don’ts of the lupus diet, ensuring healthy digestion and absorption of food particles, supplementation, elimination of toxins , the promotion of an internal alkaline terrain, etc.

Mind: stress reduction, eastern healing strategies, self-healing visualizations, power of mind/attitude, etc.

Spirit: faith, prayer, meditation, support from loved ones.

…with immediate implementation!

Each of the above is a safe, natural, common sense approach that supports the body in the healing process. (Of course, get your health specialist’s approval with any changes to your diet or lifestyle.)

As you put out the fire of disease with everything you have at your disposal, ask your team of experts (hopefully this includes a naturopath or alternative health expert in the mix) to help you identify the main culprit so that can attack it even more, once it has found it.

For some it’s food/digestion related, for others it’s environment/toxin related, or maybe it’s acute and/or chronic stress (like it was for me), or even medications known to trigger lupus. Many people never find the root cause of their symptoms, but by implementing the correct healing protocol they still improve, if not reverse, their symptoms.

In the meantime, minimize the fire and prevent it from spreading!

Too many people’s ‘wait and see’ position leads them directly to preventable outbreaks, worse, serious long-term health consequences. The sad news is that it could have been prevented or, at the very least, significantly reduced with a common sense, proactive natural approach to healing.

Note that this is not to say that there are no disease-specific problems. Of course there are. However, following a natural and healthy protocol is in your favor. Get rid of the culprits that are known to be unhealthy. White foods (sugar, salt, flour, dairy), fatty foods, processed foods, and alcohol are just a few of the common-sense “don’ts” in the diet.

Fact: The fundamental principles for healing are 85% the same for all diseases. So why wait for a label?

Most doctors are not taught the methodology of healing. His expertise is in the disease, diagnosing it, and utilizing prescription medications for a symptomatic treatment approach that suppresses symptoms rather than curing the root cause. Symptom suppression can be very helpful at times and in the short term; however, this paradigm is not a healing approach.

In fact, serious legal problems are now associated with individuals or institutions making ‘curative’ claims (even if the claims are scientifically substantiated). Recently, I was excited to hear a claim from a Canadian university, whose research had found the answer to a common and prevalent deadly disease, only to be silenced, facing possible legal charges despite the evidence in its favor.

‘Come back when you’re worse and I’ll give you steroids’
When I had lupus and went to my first visit to the rheumatologist, I asked ‘What can I do to help myself heal?’ His response: ‘Nothing, come back when you’re worse and I’ll put you on steroids.’

Swallowing my anger, I decided to be a bit more specific and asked, ‘Are there certain foods I should eat or avoid?’ They told me ‘Eat what you want, it makes no difference’. On my third and final attempt to get some sort of identifiable support, I asked, “Is there anything I can do to prevent breakouts?” to which they said ‘You told me you read a book about lupus, didn’t you? Didn’t that answer any of these questions?’

I won’t mention my next immediate thought other than the second that I internally declared that I was not going to spend my life with lupus, let alone visit this particular ‘specialist’ again! I have had countless other lupus sufferers complain of the same irresponsible, unprofessional, unhelpful response.

The previous experience that many of us have had with ‘Specialists’ is not to say that there are not doctors who have not come outside the medical model and educated themselves in the protocol of alternative and natural healing. There are countless people who have lupus and other serious illnesses, and they regularly report that they have reversed their lupus.

The unfortunate thing is that they are the exception to the norm, and accessing the information is like being on the ‘inside’ of a well known but not much publicized alternative health movement. It’s there, but you need to find it outside of regular channels.

“Many of my patients with autoimmune diseases (such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and hyperthyroidism) are able to recover and throw their medications away.”

(On curing the disease:) ‘The result is so spectacular that I am subject to skepticism and even periodic expressions of anger from other doctors.’

Curing lupus and autoimmune diseases from the inside out, versus a treatment approach that medicates from the outside in

If diet matters when we’re not sick, it certainly matters even more when we are! Also, drugs do not cure. They suppress the symptoms. They also block the ability to digest nutrients, making it even more difficult for the body to begin to heal. It is a downward spiral effect, where medication side effects often only add to the original problem and often outweigh it!

Nutrients, stress, toxins, attitude, all potentially inflammatory, are under our control when we take care to act on them. Our health is NOT in the hands of our doctor, it is in ours!

If we sit and wait for a diagnosis, we are victims. Unfortunately, to add insult to injury, sitting around waiting for your doctor’s diagnosis often leads only to prescription medication, not a healing protocol that has the potential to make the quality of your health and life healthy. Don’t wait for a label to start a healing protocol.
