Email Letter Writing: How To Write Content Emails And Free Giveaways – With Examples

How to write content emails

Generally with a content email, I know my response rate will be low, so I’m not really trying to get clicks, although I usually put a link at the end.

A great content email could simply be an article you’ve written. I’ll use the title for the subject line, then you could use language like this to get started:

Dear {!firstname_fix},

I recently wrote something I thought you might like:

Or it could immediately lead to content. As long as the content is good, you can use any method, if it’s not, you shouldn’t use it!

Please remember that this email is for reporting purposes only; I’m not trying to sell anything here. What I want is for my readers to love and respect me so that they will buy from me in the future.

How to write free gift emails

Generally, with a gift email, I will simply write the following:

Dear {!firstname_fix},

Here is a free gift for you:

OR Here’s something I thought you could use (100% free)

The great thing about gifts is that people really appreciate them. Sometimes, if I’ve been sending a lot of sales letters or referrals and my list’s responsiveness has dropped, I send a few freebies to get things fired up again, and sales usually pick up again!

One thing I’ve started doing with my giveaways is creating backend offers.

So what I’m going to do is set up the download sequence the same as if I had sold something, except the product is free, and after they click to get the free item, they get a script like this:

Thank you for accepting my free gift. Here is the link to download it: (download link here). But before you download it, check out this product; I was able to secure a special price just for you:

At this point, I put the sales letter here.

The conversion rate of this sales letter, although lower than if you had sent them directly to this page, is still better than the 0% conversion you get if you sent them directly to the giveaway. And one thing that’s nice about the giveaway is that the open rates and click-through rates are much higher, so you get a lot more exposure than with a regular letter of recommendation.

Another thing that has worked quite well for me has been writing a short free report (4-7 pages) on the subject of one of my paid products. At the bottom of the free report is a link to my paid product, with a script like this: If you found this report helpful, you might like my (name of my product). Click here to take a look: (link to my product).
